Soooo... instead of a whole new post... I decided just to update this one with a few more pics so I can give you the whole story! I have sooo many great things to say about this wedding... from her amazing dress (soooo simple and so elegant and pretty all at the same time) to the glorious weather to getting to shoot at Crescent Bend during TULIP season!!!!

So... without further ado... introducing {Abby and Kevin}

A fun wedding party is an absolute MUST. These girls rocked! Notice the uncanny resemblance between Abby and one of the bridesmaids? They are twins... and her sis just got married not even a year ago.

Abby and Kevin were determined not to see each other until the ceremony... but wanted a quick conversation through a door.

I could not love the last pic in this series any more than i do... Just as they were announced Man and Wife and started the walk back down the aisle... Kevin looked down at the new ring on his finger and grinned SO big. Sooooo sweet.

Wedding season is here again... la, la, la!!! Its getting ready to get nuts around here... and I couldn't be any more excited!!! Especially since I have a few HUGE projects in the works... Make sure to check back because I'll be making some exciting announcements soon!!

Okokok... On to the good stuff!!! Shane and Dirk got married at the end of March at the Emporium building downtown on Gay Street (my favorite place to be). They were all up for anything I could throw their way... so we spend a little time hanging out in the old city before the wedding. So much fun!

The Emporium has such cool lines inside... Also... Shane and Dirk keep honeybees... so their favors were jars of honey they had bottled themselves.

I LOVE a little store in downtown Knoxville on Market Square named Bliss!! They've been around for awhile, but lots of people don't know that they now have a FULL line of AMAZING clothes, in addition to all the great gifty stuff they've always carried (they have PERFECT gifts for bridesmaids and they even have a wedding gift registry)!! I just got to shoot some really fun pics for their spring advertising. Hi folks! Man, it has been awhile. We were on the road for all of February taking a little break and getting ready for the start of wedding season THIS weekend!!! I cannot wait to dust out the old Nikon! I'm super excited about this upcoming season... I feel like I have some amazing brides coming up!
This post is a little different. I wanted to share a slideshow from a birthday party I shot back in January. I've been lucky enough to follow this family for a good bit now. I shot their Maternity pictures, newborn pics, nine month pics and now, Nora's one year Birthday. Nora is a super amazing child and I feel so grateful they have let me part of their lives. Shortly after our newborn session, Nora was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). She and her family are fighting hard everyday, so this party was ultra-special! If you are interested in learning more about SMA or their journey please visit their blog.

Hellooooo!! So, here I sit... exactly one hour and 41 minutes into Christmas day... I wanted so badly to get this gorgeous wedding finished up before the holiday, but as it always seems to go... the universe had other plans. However...I absolutely must, must share a little sneak peak just in time for Christmas.

When I say we had a great time shooting this wedding, that would be the understatement of the year!!! For starters... we were in glorious Jamaica! And #2, Jenny, Mike and their families are such a joy to be around. We had such an amazing time just hanging out with them in the time leading up to and after the wedding. As I look back over this last year, I feel so blessed to have had so many amazing clients... and what a better way to end the year? I certainly can't think of one.

Thanksgiving weekend... what a perfect time for a wedding... surrounded by so much family and so many friends during such a time of celebration.
I had such a wonderful time getting to work with Ben and Laurel for their wedding. They got married at the Chapel on the Hill in Oak Ridge and it was all around such a perfect day. I've really been so lucky with weather this year... despite the insane amount of rain, it always seems to clear on up just in time for the important stuff. Saturday was absolutely glorious... no rain, and it definitely wasn't as cold as it could've, should've been.
And to top it all off... Ben and Laurel are both sweet, sweet, sweet... and sooooo in love.

Super cool dress hangers

Hey-o! So, most of my brides know i am officially OBSESSED with everything Etsy.. so... I've decided to do a blog once a week or so on some of the oh, so fun things you can find on there. For those of you who haven't discovered this gem of a website, its an online marketplace featuring artisans near and far. EVERYTHING is either handmade or vintage.

So, today... its all about the hanger. I usually try to carry a few pretty hangers with me for those dress pics (I hate photographing a gorgeous wedding dress on a plastic hanger!!!)... but either of these are WAY cooler than anything I can even come close to... I love, love, love all things personalized, especially for a wedding.

I think this is one of the most creative things I've seen in a long while...

And they are super reasonably priced. You can find them here.

Oh yes... I'm back. My much needed hiatus was uber-productive and now I'm ready to blog!! I have soooo much to share over the next few weeks, so come check it all out when you have the chance.
First up... a little sneak peak for one of my favorite, favorite couples on the year... Emily and Chris. You may remember these guys from their oh, so amazing e-session... the one with the fountain. I heart these guys.
Emily has such a great sense of style... so of course, every last detail of the wedding was just perfect... the style of her dress to her perfect birdcage veil fit so well into the style of the Bleak house where the wedding was held. Ok... enough talk. Lets get to some pictures already.

Insane October!

I've gotta start by apologizing for my little blogging hiatus... I'm in prioritizing mode, and blogging is always the first to go! October is the most insane month of the year for me... tons of photo sessions to capture all the glorious colors and it's the perfect season for weddings too. I also want to thank every one who is waiting on pics for your patience. I am working day and night to get you finished up... and I'd rather take a few extra days and make them perfect than hurry along and not be totally psyched about what I'm giving you.
I have quite a few weddings to blog, but those will have to wait... which is ok, it just means I'll have something to share when it finally calms down a little about the middle of November... but until then, just wanted to show you all what I've been up to over the last month or so... Hi blog stalkers... (and blog occasional stopper-byers). So, this has been the rainiest nastiest month in soooo long, but these guys must have been livin' the good life, because their wedding day was nothing but sunshine, cool breezes and a big blue sky full of puffy, perfect clouds. I LOVE me some Kensley and Scott. I met Kensley a couple years ago at a wedding I was shooting for one of her good friends, and then she was a bridesmaid in a wedding I shot this May. Well, when she and her fiance, Scott, decided it was time to tie their own knot, I am sooooooo happy that she called on yours truly to be the lucky one to shoot it. We had a great time! It was the first wedding I had ever shot at Castleton Farms and I couldn't believe how beautiful it was (and how diverse). We all know I love a good barn, but I can dress it up too when given the chance, and boy did I have chances here. So, enough jibber-jabber... here's the good stuff...

I was surfing around on the web the other day and I came across the blog of one of my {future} brides. We just did their engagement session a couple months ago... {you can see some of my favorites a few blog posts down - Emily and Chris}. Anyhow... She had blogged about their e-session and I asked her if I could share her {so very eloquent and so very kind} words. Here they are as taken directly from her blog...

"When we interviewed millions of photographers, there was a reason behind it. The below photos say it all. We didn't want to sit in any weird or "hoo hoo formal" positions. We didn't want to be tied up in suits and strings like puppets in a 2 man show. So this is what we ended up with...timeless photos, so natural, and one heck of a memory filled with fun.

Right before we left for the e-session I remember it feeling just about 100 degrees out. It was hot. It was going to get sticky and sweaty. I was a little nervous. Did I really want to have someone take zillions of photos of me, in the heat, of me and my most favorite -- capturing our intimate looks on film...and could it be done?

But once we got in front of the camera, against the brick walls and inside of the old window frames, my perception of what could be and what was - was well, completely different. And boy, our photographer is what I call a rockstar.

I won't forget the tickling that ensued almost immediately, as we leaned against the brown wood and red brick background. We laughed, my mouth open in so many pictures because I couldn't contain myself. The sheer joy on our faces. The raised eyebrows and the way that the Boy can almost completely wrap his arms around me twice.

I love the angles, and the raw edges, and the light.

And when we got in the car after having 400 photos taken of us, we both looked at each other and knew we had done good...and had TONS of fun. In fact, it was the most fun we've had during this whole process. We just played. We were just ourselves.

Now when we are old, and gray haired, and sitting in the little rockers looking out at the mountains we can no longer physically climb, we will look at these photos. We will remember when the Boy could easily sweep me up in his arms and lift me. We will remember the laughter, the jumping, the young spirits. We will see us."

I'm a little {ok, maybe alot} behind on blogging! Getting pics finished is always my first priority, so I've let the fun stuff slip a little... but not to fear! I'm psyched to share this wedding from Labor day weekend that I just finished up!
Sunny and Trey...

The farm was on a two hundred year old farm in Sweetwater that was one of the coolest places I've ever seen. Soooo much cool stuff to shoot.

It rained most of the morning and we were so worried about being able to shoot (well, I was worried about shooting... they were worried about the ceremony), but as we arrived at the farm, the sky cleared a bit and it was perfect the rest of the day...

The rain boots were perfect for tromping around the soggy ground...

This picture cracks me up! The ringbearer had just turned around to see them in behind him kissing... hence the face. LOVE IT.

Sunny walked down the aisle to the orchestra playing "Here Comes the Sun" So fitting.

So, this had to be one of my favorite ceremonies EVER! It was a mix of Jewish and Christian and secular traditions that was so perfect! My favorite part was the seven blessings... so much emotion... one minute everyone was rolling over laughing and the next there wasn't a dry eye to be found (including mine).

And then, they danced...

...and danced some more...

I am so grateful I got to be a part of this wedding... so thank you Sunny and Trey for letting me document it for you.

I'm in West Va gettin' ready to shoot the wedding of my friends Craig and Noell and I am one sleepy girl, so this is gonna be light on the jibber-jabber... but before I hit the hay, I have to share a few from a wedding at the Buckhorn Inn in Gatlinburg at the end of August. I brought along my laptop and finished up a few blog photos in the car on the way up here because I know they are dying for a sneak peak.
Matt and Mandy are actually both from the mid-west, but they love the mountains... so they dragged their entire families and all of their best buds down to the Tennessee hills for a a really nice weekend. I had absoutely NO CLUE that a place as cool as the Buckhorn even existed in the area around Gatlinburg, so I am so glad that they introduced it to me. This pic was taken during the reception... Is the insanely gorgeous, or what??

Some last minute table adjustments between the bride and groom... without seeing one another, of course.

Ahhhhh. A sweet wedding in a little country church. gotta love it. Especially when its followed up by lots and lots o' dancin'
Lorin and Chris got hitched in August up in Morristown. First time I'd been up there to shoot a wedding, and I've got to say... I might just like to go back one of these days.

The reception was at the Rose Center... I'd driven by there a million times back in my previous life as a drug rep, but had never had the chance to go inside. So, now I can say "been there, done that." And it is such a cool old building with what I hear is a pretty cool and varied history as well.

now this is a laid-back bride... I love how at ease she looks.

Lorin's bridesmaids wrote notes to her on the bottom of her shoes...

Lorin and Chris agreed to see each other before the wedding so we could get LOTS of shots of the two of them... Lorin just made me promise to get great shots of it... she said it was her most anticipated moments of the day... and its always my favorite.

Lorin is a traditional kind of girl... so I shot a little for her...

ok, so I think this is the coolest staircase ever! well... at least in K-town. I am so happy that I dragged them all the way down there. And I love her bright turquoise dress against all that yellow.

So, the one thing that these two couples have in common is that they LOVE boating... so for the first time(s) I incorporated their boats into some shots. I loved them both... but again, so different!

I can't think of a better way to end the summer! Now just looking forward to the crazy fall I've got ahead of me... starting today. :)

Helllloooo blog world. Before I share these pics from Matt and Jill's wedding, I've gotta take a minute to apologize to everyone who is waiting on my editing right now. About two weeks ago, I went on a very short overnight backpacking trip and during the middle of the night I started to get a really sore throat and a cough. I totally thought it was just from sleeping in the damp air... but by the time we had hiked out and made it back to town I had a really high fever and body aches and just felt plain ole terrible. Yep, you got it... the "pig" flu. And not only did I have the flu for basically that entire week, but it turned into a sinus infection that stayed with me until just this past friday. I managed to make it to all of my weddings (thank goodness I came down with it on a Monday so I was fever-free by the next Saturday), but I have lost so much editing time in the last two weeks, it is CRAZY!!! I am working like a woman-possessed to get myself out of the hole, but, I will be running behind for the next little bit at least. So, I just want to say thank you to everyone for your patience... I really appreciate it and just know that I am doing everything in my power to catch up and get things out on at least a semi-normal time-frame.

**** OK, now for the main attraction (enough talk already, Jennie!!!!)
Introducing the brand-spankin' new Brock family... Jill and Matt.
This couple could not be any sweeter if they tried. Jill is about the nicest person I've ever met in my life... and Matt isn't far behind... not to mention that they are totally adorable. Matt has actually worked for me as an assistant/second shooter at a couple weddings and helps out with a little editing here and there, so it was fun to put him on the other side of the camera.
The wedding was at their church, but the reception was at Hunter Valley. It was actually my first time out there and it was so nice to have a fresh place to shoot! I love the room where the girls get ready... especially the glorious vintage chandelier.

We had perfect weather... a bit on the warm side perhaps, but pretty darn nice.

ok, so... best first kiss. EVER. Look at their faces in the second shot. Seriously priceless.

And I love, love, love watching people who can dance. These two had some MOVES.

{Ashley & Derek}

So, few words make my heart flutter like "on a farm." I dream about weddings like one. A big barn, a tent, a gorgeous bride, some horses, some hay bales, an antique John Deere and the most fun wedding party I could possibly imagine. We had an amazing day playing with all the farm had to offer... It was a little warm (ok, it was sweltering), but Ashley, Derek and their wedding party were so cool about it... and they seemed to be having just as good of a time as I was.
The details of this wedding were so great! I'm normally not much of a detail gal, but I just couldn't help myself!!!

So, I had to put this one in... How much do I love a bunch of groomsmen saying "I don't know what to do with my hands?" I always break out a little Ricky Bobby and I think this is the first group that ALL got my joke... well, all but the guy on the right. ha, ha.

E-session Extraordinaire!!!

I've always loved a good e-session, but this one was really something special. Rarely do I set aside enough time to blog just an e-session, but I just can't help myself. Chris and Emily are getting hitched this November, so we set off on a little urban adventure. Chris warned me going in that he can be a little "stiff." HA, HA!!! They were both totally amazing and about the most relaxed couple I've had all year... which made for some really fun photos. I'm so psyched about shooting the wedding in a few months.

I love a good challenge... and believe me, this was as good as it gets. One family, two pregnant girls... they are sister-in-laws and are due within two weeks of one another. Wow! I'm not drinking out of their faucets anytime soon. :) They wanted pics not only individually, but also with each of their husbands, the two girls together and all four of them combined. We had a awesome time trying to make it all work, but I loved the results, so I'm just posting a quick little preview.

**Katie is one of my husband's cousins and she and Eric were married in Michigan on August 1. We had an absolute blast! Of course, Jason was roped into assisting and that is always, always an adventure... though I will say he was rather well behaved. I also think I may have to start marketing myself up north, because the weather was PERFECT!!! We were lucky to miss the rain that came and went, but who can complain about 75 and breezy. It was definitely a welcome change from good ole 90 degrees with 110% humidity.
Plus, Katie is amazingly beautiful and Eric was so easy to work with and so much fun to be around.

so, basically.... Sweetest. Picture. Ever. I always love the "seeing each other for the first time" pics, but this one... aaaahhhhh.

Katie only looked at me like I was slightly crazy when I told her to jump up into the rotting tree stump. But I'm so psyched she did it!

I'm just throwing this pic in because I thought it was such a great idea. Their centerpieces were individual cakes with handmade (by Katie) table numbers. There were 6 different flavors for 18 tables, so everyone got up and mingled trying samples. Awesome (and delicious) idea!!!!

They had the world's cutest flower girls and ringbearer... look at those hands in his pockets and the girls' ringlets.

Katie and Eric had a very special guest at their wedding... one that not even they knew was there... until now. Most of you won't get this, but what matters is that the important parties will. :) He'll turn up a few more times K and E. Keep an eye out.

Katie got a little emotional seeing her dad for the first time... just as she was getting ready to walk down the aisle. So sweet.

I love this one taken during the ceremony over the shoulders of both of her brothers... who are obviously crazy about her.

Ok, so these last two... I couldn't decide which one I liked better, so I thought I'd let you decide. At the wedding, there was an old wedding picture of Katie's grandparents that I decided I wanted to "copy" ... well, copy in my own crazy way. I looked and looked for a location to take it, but nothing screamed at me... until I decided I had to use the bathroom. LOVED the purple wall, and knew it was perfect for what I wanted to do... Ha. Only I would drag a poor bride and groom into a tiny bathroom for the perfect shot. :)

Maple Grove Inn... July 18.
I am so very excited to share a few (well, more than a few) from their wedding in July. I shot a bridal session with Susan a couple weeks before the wedding and I've gotta say, it almost killed me not being able to publish them immediately. She is stunning and I loved the location. So... I'm starting out with a few from that session and following it up with an abnormally large amount of wedding day photos.

This was one of my favorite shots of that session... its amazing where great photos can be made... this was just a boring old empty hallway...

Now, for the main event...

A girl's gotta have a little vacation every now and then. I'm almost exactly half-wa through wedding season, so this was a perfect time to sneak away. I thought I'd share just a few shot snapped in and around downtown Chicago. Best city EVER!

We picked the right weekend to be in Chi-town. The Venetian nights festival was Saturday night and before the festivities, Ronnie Renner set up to break his own world record on the quarter pipe. I know absolutely nothing about this sport, but I gotta say, it was pretty cool watching with the Chicago skyline in the background.

We stayed in the building with the "Harrison" sign on top.

On weekend nights, a live band plays in Grant Park and they offer free dance lessons followed up by two hours of music to practice your new skills. LOVE it!!

Hello out there in blog world!! I'm still alive, and I hope I still have blog stalkers out there after this ridiculously long absence from blogging. When I've got clients waiting on pics, the blog is the last thing on my mind. So, this is gonna be the most random blog post ever!!! Babies and e-sessions and families and weddings and bridals. Hopefully, in the next week, I'll have time to do some full-length blogs because I have ALOT of great stuff to share... but for now, this is gonna have to do...

The Lester Family - I shot this sess awhile ago, but just haven't had a chance to blog it... The Lesters won the awesome photo package that I donated for the Fantasy of Trees Gala silent auction last year and that I'll definitely be doing again... They were such an adorable family...

I shot Kaityn's senior sess a couple weeks ago and I'm so excited because I've got a few of her friends in the next couple weeks... is she a beauty or what?

My mom's best friend lives in Korea and she and her daughter Sejin were in town for a few weeks this summer, so mom asked me to do a session with Sejin in downtown Knoxville since she grew up here and is a total "Knoxville Girl."

My favorite family in the world... You've seen Mr. Finn a couple times by now and there will defintely be more to come with this one.

He is such a doll... his mom is prayin' those eyes stay baby blue.

The Cantrell Story-Megan and Scott

Hang with me folks, this is going to be one long post! I wanted to get these up today so badly and for really good reason... tomorrow is Megan's birthday and I thought this might be a great birthday surprise! So, because this is a super special post, I have alot, alot, alot of pics to share from their wedding.
Megan and Scott's wedding was such an amazing experience... they have this incredible support group including tons of fiercly loyal, protective and supportive friends and family surrounding them and you can tell how much they were and are so, so loved by every person at that wedding. Megan was about the most laid back bride in the world and Scott is so obviously full of love for her.
Even when it rained (totally unexpectedly) and the wedding had to be moved inside, Megan and Scott handled it with such grace... Megan said with a smile on her face... "you know, its ok! I'm still getting married today."

Tate and Kristin

Tate and Kristin are another of my good ole South Knox couples. I have a few of them this year, and its always fun for me to shoot in SoKno because inevitably I run into plenty of folks I know (being a South Knox girl myself). After Kristin booked last year, we realized her grandparents live right next door to my grandparents... how small the world can be...
They got married in Mount Olive church, but we all know I get a little bored when I have to be too traditional, so I dragged them down the road into Vestal (what's that you say? Vestal? What in the world could possibly be worth shooting in Vestal?) where I had scouted out the old Candora Marble company building. Wow I'm so glad I did. To my knowledge, these are the first wedding pics to have been taken in the super cool (and very old) building. They are in the process of cleaning it up and using it as an artist cooperative (** but I think it would make an excellent venue for parties and small receptions).

I'm super excited to blog these pics from Jerra and Cory's wedding a couple weeks ago. They absolutely did not want to see each other before she walked down the aisle, so we had to get a little creative with time management. Luckily, they had an afternoon wedding and by the time the reception was wrapped up, the light was perfect for us to spend some time getting some really cool shots.

I don't consider myself a big fan of pink... but I gotta say that I love me some bright pink bridesmaid's dresses against all that green!

I think this is one of my favs of Jerra...

The girls were walking through these dark hallways to get to the sanctuary and I snapped this one, which I thought looked so cool...

I was in the sanctuary waiting on the ceremony to start and saw Jerra and her bridesmaids through the window giggling and watching people...

She swore she wouldn't cry... how funny? and adorable.

It is so nice to get to spend some quality stress-free time with a bride and groom. We had so much fun just being relaxed, having nowhere to be with no timeline to follow... just getting the shots.

This has to be one of my favorite shots of the year so far...
I love being in the right place at the right time. I always joke that I am not a nature photographer because I don't have the patience to sit and wait around for Mother Nature to perfect herself, but here, I saw the light and knew I could maneuver myself to make her work for me!

I also love that I didn't have to worry about getting the dress dirty :) LOVE this shot.

It has been so long...
But, believe me, this one was is worth the wait! I'm too busy to ramble on today (i know, i know...thank goodness), so this one is light on talk and big on pics!

So, this is actually kinda three sessions in one... I shot the wedding first and we talked in advance that the best bet for their timeline was to get together after the wedding for pictures of them... So at that shoot we did some casual shots with their *so cute* doggie Dakota and then got down to business.

You know its gonna be a fun night when the groom starts it off with some break dancin'

This next shot is one of my favorites... notice the fishies in the water... how cool is that? And no, this is not some crazy destination in the Caribbean (I wish)... Unless, of course, you count South Knoxville as a crazy destination.

Melanie has a dancer's body and was so graceful in the water... love this!

And seriously... how many grooms would want in on this action? I loved me some Josh... he was up for anything.

While everyone out there in normal work-week land is welcoming the weekend, I'm just getting started... its Saturday morning and as I'm sitting here preparing for the wedding I'm headed to at 11, I realize I haven't had a chance to blog my last two e-sessions... Both of which were awesome!!!
So today is 2-for-the-price-of-one Saturday. I'm shooting both of these weddings in October...
For Jaime and Jimmy (J&J#1) we headed to the Old City. Jimmy just finished up the police academy and is one tough guy! I told him I've never felt so safe on a shoot before... and of course, Jaime was as cute as she can be.

I love, love this next shot... its seriously amazing what you can come up with if you just open your eyes... I wish I had taken a shot just to show this location... it was a crowded parking lot... really, we were almost totally surrounded by cars and by framing the shot just right, we lost them all and this became one of my favs of the day.

This is my favorite old window downtown.

I needed grass... I can only handle so much "city." So... of course... look no further that under the interstate bridge... yeah, really.

This was the one place J and J#1 wanted to shoot... I too love this red door.

And now... Jenny and Jason (or J&J#2)! Great names, huh? For those of you who don't know my husband... his name is Jason too! He came with me to shoot these guys in Chatty-town and boy did that make things interesting. We had a blast with them (we met up for pizza at Lupis before the shoot) and they've almost convinced us to just pack up and move it down there.... almost :-) I can't wait for their wedding... its gonna be so, so fun. You know I love a good BBQ reception.

J&J#2 thought we were just going into the library on UTC's campus for a quick wardrobe change, but of course, I couldn't let them get away with that... they met while in school there, so of course I had to do a little shooting.... because I'm so sure this is how they spent lots of time while "studying" Ha, ha...

Then, we went to the other side of the river and found some super cool places to shoot... Love these next two... taken in the exact same place, but oh, so different.

But this... this is my favorite, favorite! Love the moon in it, love her boots, the cool bridge and the lighting was perfecto!

Hola Ya'll! One month down, only five to go in this crazy season o' love. I survived by the skin of my teeth and managed to barely stay ahead of the game... except for this whole blog thing... so, I'm a few weddings behind, but hey, better late than never. I really wanted to share this one though, so here it is...
Introducing Karen and Cort...

These next two are actually from Karen's bridal session a few weeks ago... of course I couldn't share them just in case Cort ran across the pics online.

They had the ceremony in the rose garden part of Dara's Garden and the roses were in full bloom. I snapped this just as Karen and her dad were walking out to the ceremomy.

One of the coolest things about Dara's is the old barn...

I love the weeping willow at Dara's I love anything that adds depth to a photograph.

I love the big chandeliers out at Dara's Garden... I think it adds so much to the reception when you have cool lighting.

Karen got hitched and her shoes got ditched... (ha, ha) just minutes after the dancing began.

This next sequence make my heart pitter a bit... it was just after the father-daughter dance and as Karen and her dad left the dance floor, they simply walked apart and slowly dropped hands as they did... I love the looks on both of their faces and I totally think this is a priceless moment from this wedding.

I'll be shooting this wedding in about 20 years or so...

This is gonna be a long one folks! How do you narrow it down when you've got a gorgeous bride, a crazy cool hunk of land (you thought I was just going to leave it at "hunk" didn't you?) in the middle of nowhere, perfect lighting, an adorable groom (ok, so he's a bit hunky), and one big happy party of a wedding?
Holy-moly, we had a great day with Heather and Greg. They are so much fun and so laid back. Heather wanted the wedding to be on Friday night because (in her words) "nothing says party like a Friday night wedding." And party it was! Even when the crazy bad Thunderstorms came through, noone lost their heads, everyone just hung in there, drank a little and hoped for the best. It turned out amazing! The rain let off just in time for the ceremony and the rain killed the heat!
So, while I'm sure you tune into my blog just to read my rambles, lets get on with the real show... introducing....

So, this has to be the cutest picture of the year so far... we were shooting in this hallway and the flowergirl just wandered in, so Heather bent down to wipe something off of her dress. I love it!

I developed a slight obsession with this old metal plow out behind the house... you'll see it in a few pics :)

Heather is absolutely stunning... and oh, how I love a classic, simple dress.

and oh, how I love some crazy bright colors on some bridesmaids!! Check out how great these bright pink dresses look!

These next four are Heather and Greg seeing each other for the first time. I thought it was a really sweet moment. For these shots, I usually put on my long lens so I can get way back and just let the bride and groom have their moment alone.

So, about this time is when the thunderstorms hit!! And man, they HIT!!! So, what's a photographer to do? I'll tell ya... I put the wedding party under the porch (luckily, the porch was awesome!!!) and my assistant held an umbrella over my head while we ran out in the downpour, shot a few shots and ran for cover. We did all of the family portaits that way too. Hey, a girl's gotta do what a girls gotta do!

And then, just as all hope was lost... the rain stopped, the chairs got a good wipedown...

and we had a wedding. Pure bliss...

Amber and Neal

I love me some Amber and Neal. We did their e-session last fall and the wedding was last weekend at Butterfly Gap. I swear that they must be the luckiest two people in the entire world! It rained all day and we were all convinced that the wedding was going to have to be inside (the weather channel showed horrible storms headed our way), but with 10 minutes to go until the ceremony started... the rain disappeared and the sun even managed to peak through a little. No rain anywhere the rest of the day. There wasn't enough time to move all the chairs, but they were so laid back, they just had their guests stand for the short ceremony. I love it! Go with the flow.

I'm gonna start with a couple of my favorites of Amber. I think this first one is so super cool...

I seriously can't get in a single butterfly gap post without using the blue wall... its just too rad and I always end up with a few pics in front of it that I love, love.

a little something different...

So, this was one wild groom! within minutes of seeing each other for the first time, he had already thrown her over his shoulder and gone for a little jog... He cracked me up!

love it... don't know why... i just do... so there.

Neal could behave himself for about 30 seconds at a time. We'd get in a few sweet shots and then before I knew it he would be making a ridiculous face, throwing Amber around or biting her head...

stylized... but I really love this one.

perhaps my favorite of the day! I knew I loved Amber the first time we met, but I fell in love when right before the ceremony she had to use the bathroom and I said "can I come" and she didn't hesitate for a second with "yeah, of course!" And here is the result... How funny is this?

Their wedding was (pardon the upcoming pun) crawling with kiddos and Amber and Neal were so good with them! I think this is adorable.

They totally win the prize for the best garter removal of the year (so far, ha, ha) The person on the right with his hands over his eyes and his back to the camera is Amber's dad. Hilarious!

Casey and Kristin

I just wanted to post a quick preview for Casey and Kristin. This is going to be a bit shorter than normal 'cause I am SWAMPED (and I'd rather get their whole wedding finished on time than spend a ton of time blogging it)!! I shot their wedding last weekend and I'm just now getting the blog up! I was in Denver all last week for a workshop and loosing that week of office time will put a girl behind!! I'll have some of the pics from the workshop up soon. I'm hoping to get caught up by the end of the week, so this will surely not be my last post for the week. I've got an e-session and another wedding in the works, so stay tuned.

Now, for the main event...

The tree in this picture was so, so cool. I had to figure a way to use it, but directly behind the tree was the side of the church... so, get low, shoot up, result: really cool shot.

We poached this old pick-up from a neighbor's yard. A little trespassing never hurt anyone, right? Ha, ha. Ok, so we did ask first. They got married in a church out in the middle of nowhere... I love the challenge... I have to really look and be creative with what is around me. I love the way this turned out.

And on the side of that same neighbor's great white clapboard house....

I love a funny groom! His face in this is priceless.

Man, O, Man I had a fun weekend!!! I love a casual, fun, fun, fun backyard wedding. I don't think I quit laughing for five minutes the entire day. What more could a girl want... a gorgeous spring day in a perfect garden, a beautiful bride, 10 super-fun (and adorable) bridesmaids, and 12 ridiculously funny groomsmen (Will included)? NOTHING!!!

For some reason this is one of my favorites of the day... taken as the MOH (also Jessica) is fastening her dress. I love the high-contrast mixed with that little bit of motion blur... plus, Jessica is beaming.

Is she a doll or what? She had a long dress cut to tea length... just perfect for a spring garden wedding. And check out her shoes... Jess wore Jellies from high school. Too cute. I could've done an entire blog with just pics of her. I had to seriously weed it down.

I went over to check out the house last week and this crab apple was in full bloom. I wished and hoped all week that it would still be beautiful for the wedding. I couldn't have asked for it to be more perfect. The ground was covered with pink blossoms and if I shook the branches, petals rained down. I could not love this picture any more.

Lisa Foster did the flowers... so fabulous as always.

...and my ridiculously funny groomsmen. I pretty much just stood back and let them tell me what they were going to do. Its a miracle we were (relatively) injury free at the end of the day... seriously.

So, this is another favorite from the day... Jessica and her friends praying moments before the ceremony. So sweet... and not a dry eye in the room.

Can you believe this is in Will's parents backyard? Love it!!! His parents had 40 benches hand-made for people to sit on.

Such a sweet moment during the ceremony... And look at all that green!!!

I know this is a bit different for me, but for some reason I loved this shot... I love the blur, the sunflower in the back, the light in the front, but mostly I love Jes's smile.

Wedding parties gone bad....

Jessica totally wins the award for the most creative cake design. She came up with this all on her own and it was so cool! Sweet Celebrations in Maryville did such a great job with it... and so tasty too!

The reception was held in the backyard of a close family friend.... They have a gorgeous pool. Let me just say for the record how scary it is running around a pool with a bunch of camera equipment strapped to you.

And this... this is pure joy.

So Happy, Happy, Happy that spring is here!! That means engagement sessions, weddings and seniors galore!!! Stay tuned cause its going to get a little crazy around here and there should be plenty of eye candy with photo updates at least once or twice a week! I'm shooting Kelly and William's wedding at Butterfly Gap in June and I am thrilled that we managed to sneak in an E-session. William is in school in Montana, so he is only here just for short holiday breaks.
We headed up to the mountains to start out and then finished up in downtown Maryville.

We basically spent the time in the mountains just running around in one of my favorite fields... I love this pic of Kelly throwing her head back laughing.

Any photo with great movement is high on my list. I just think movement captures joy in a way nothing else can...

Sometimes I just like to mess with people!! I told Kelly and William to get as close to kissing as possible without touching.... I just like to see how long folks will do what I'm asking no matter how hard... Giggling typically follows :)

We all know how much I love those shadows...

Honor Air Knoxville

So this post is a little something different, but I hope it makes your day. I spent last night at McGhee Tyson welcoming home a group of soldiers.... nope, not soldiers who have been off fighting in Iraq or Afghanistan... these guys did their fighting many, many years ago....
Honor Air Knoxville (www.honorairknoxville.com) is a non-profit dedicated to sending Knoxville's WWII Vets to see the new WWII Memorial in Washington DC. They send 3-4 trips a year with about 125 vets in each trip. My grandfather was lucky enough to get to make that trip yesterday.
Honor Air asks families to turn out to welcome home their Veteran... you wouldn't believe the number of people who showed up! It was a spectacle to say the least! It was absolutely one of the coolest things I've gotten to do in a long time! People were lined up waving flags all the way down the airport. A real Hero's welcome.

Cowboy boots, Pick-up Trucks, Barns and Old Gas Stations

This has to be one of my favorite e-sessions of all time! Not only were Megan and Scott absolutely great to work with and totally adorable, we also had perfect weather, perfect lighting, and a totally rad location. I've ridden my bicycle past this old gas station on a country road east of town about 100 times, but since I've always been on the bike, I just never been able to photograph it... just poke around a bit. However, my husband and I were actually in the car coming home that way a few weeks ago, and I made him pull over to let me take some pics. Right then and there, I decided I had to do an e-session there. I had the perfect couple in mind. Megan and Scott had already set up an e-session for their wedding in June, and I asked if they'd be willing to do something a bit different. They were all for it! We started out in the fields across from the store because the sky was looking awesome and I was worried about the sun getting too bright. It ended up being perfect...

Scott was psyched about the old barn. You can see the front of the store in the left of this pic, but I love this cool old tree...

Then, we headed over to the gas station for some funkier stuff... I kinda have a thing for old gas stations... and this is definitely one of my favorites! It is actually still open for business during the week and on Saturdays.

The little old man who owns/runs the place is normally hanging out in this old chair on the porch...

So, one of the reasons this location was so, so perfect for these two is because Scott proposed to Megan in the back of his big ole' pick-up truck. You gotta love it!

...And getting a little more intimate. I love this pic... Megan has a great smile.

And finally, I had to throw in a shot of the ring... because it is GORGEOUS!!

What a great way to spend a beautiful Sunday morning. I so love my job on mornings like this one! Thanks guys and I can't wait til June.

Jessica and Josh must be living right! The forecast for their outside wedding was not just for rain, but for severe thunderstorms.... Thunderstorms that never showed. Yippee! Finally, a wedding without rain! Ok, so maybe a little sprinkle... just enough for the good luck thing to work.
They got married at Crescent Bend. Jessica is from Memphis and Josh from Indiana, so everyone was from out of town. That always makes for a fun wedding... almost like a reunion. One important person, however, couldn't be there... Jessica's brother. I love this first pic. He sent her a video to watch on the morning of the wedding. While all of her bridesmaids are busy primping, around the corner, Jes was engrossed in the video. Too sweet....

I love the room at Crescent Bend where the girls get ready, there are tons of mirrors and great light.

Jessica is such a classic beauty and her mermaid dress was fabulous.

And a bit edgier... love, love the dead vines...

Jessica's handsome groom and his NINE groomsmen! It was obvious Jessica and Josh have alot of really great friends.

So, we thought we'd be fighting the rain all day, but as it turns out, we were fighting the sun instead. So, I just used it to my advantage... This is one of my favorites of Jessica... she looks so radiant.

So, of course, where there are kids, there I will be with my camera... This guy absolutely hammed it up all day!!! He had these killer eyes. The folks laughing in the background had told him to shake his bootie... they didn't have to tell him twice!

While his little brother was still going strong on the dance floor...

Jessica was an AOPi at UTK, so of course, Jessica and her sisters had to conduct a little AOPi ritual during the reception. This picture cracked me up! They were not about to go easy on her.

I had so much fun Jessica and Josh! Thank you, thank you for letting me be there.
