Motorboat Mondays

Mondays are waaay better if you spend the afternoon at the lake. All summer long we've been trying to get to the lake as much as possible, but with weddings every weekend, sometimes that is easier said than done, so Mondays have become lake day. We put in downtown under the bridge and spend the evening running around on the river. I took my camera along last Monday and wanted to share some of the pictures. It is so cool to see K-town from this whole new angle.

Hoot, Hoot

I absolutely had to share the coolest picture. Walking back in the dark from my last bridal session, we came upon a tree with an owl sitting in it just above our heads. Just as I snapped off a few shots, he decided to fly directly at our heads. As we screamed like little girls and ducked, I fired off this shot...

Melanie and Bryan

On july 5, I headed out to Butterfly Gap again (still my favorite!!) and shot Melanie and Bryan's wedding. We managed to get some really cool shots of the wedding itself and of Melanie and Bryan. I've had so much fun working with this couple.

The outside weddings at "the gap" are held on a skinny peninsula that juts out into a lake that was built specifically for this purpose. The modern arbor at the end makes it perfect.
We did a whole series of these cool pictures of Melanie sitting in this super mod red chair out in the middle of the woods... So fun!

I swore I was going to do a whole blog without a single picture of the blue wall, but obviously that failed big time! Secret fact...Mandy, the owner of Butterfly Gap hated the blue wall when they first painted it... I do believe that she would be mobbed by a gang of angry photographers if she was to change it though.

Check out that sky!
At the reception, the groom and his groomsmen changed into tuxedo t-shirts for some serious dancing! (I can't say Ii blame them...who wants to boogie in a starched shirt?)

Melanie and Bryan, thanks for letting me be a part of your wedding. I'm so happy to have shared it with you.

Drama Queen

Most photographers (including me) would run screaming when they find out a bride is a "drama queen"... But not this bride! Biz is an actress, so she certainly has the drama gene (which made her so fun to shoot).......but she and Kevin were such a fun, casual, laid-back couple (which made them so fun to be around). All Biz wanted to do was take her shoes off, throw off the crown and go sit in the grass... sounds like me...
The wedding was at Crescent Bend and they used the lower level...Christabel and the Jons played (by the way...check them out on Myspace - they are great, and love doing weddings!) during the reception...
Thank you guys so much for letting me be a part of your wedding! I keep telling people that your ceremony was my favorite one I've ever been to... it was just so perfectly you... from John Prine to the Star Wars theme song. - Jennie

one more... I can't resist "The Queen and her court"
